Bristol based Testimony was formed in 1992 by producer, director and writer Steve Humphries. He was formerly a lecturer in history and sociology at the University of Essex and a producer at LWT: he was described by Broadcast magazine as “the king of oral history”. Testimony has made more than eighty network programmes for BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 and Channel 4. The programmes are distinguished by ground breaking research and emotional power. They are often accompanied by books,
co-authored by Humphries, who has more than twenty books to his name and is honorary vice president of the British Oral History Society.
The core staff is Steve Humphries (Executive Producer, Producer and Director), Nick Maddocks (Producer, Director and Editor), Mary Parsons (Assistant Producer), Roz Sinclair (Assistant Producer/Director) Daniel de Waal (Editor),

Testimony also has a strong relationship with a number of freelance staff including Thekla Soultanian (programme development), Richard van Emden (historical consultant and First World
